Lewes budget meeting set March 12

Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet virtually at 1 p.m., Friday, March 12, to finish its discussion about the 2021-22 budget. A link to the meeting can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net.

Lewes council meets March 15

Lewes Mayor and City Council will meet virtually at 6 p.m., Monday, March 15, to adopt the 2021-22 budget. The group will also set a public hearing on an ordinance to amend city code relating to maximum building height in the community facilities (educational) zone. Lewes parks and rec meets March 15

The Lewes Parks and Recreation Commission will meet virtually at 6:30 p.m., Monday, March 15. The group will receive updates on a search for the site of a pickleball facility, public art projects, efforts of the Lewes Community Garden and ongoing work to establish a sponsorship program for city parks. Commissioners will also consider an application for the installation of a commemorative tree. A link to the meeting can be found on the agenda at lewes.civicweb.net.

Rehoboth Boardwalk committee to meet

The Rehoboth Beach Boardwalk and Beach Committee has scheduled an online meeting for 10:30 a.m., Monday, March 15. The agenda calls for discussions on the commercialization of the Boardwalk and Dark Sky initiatives. Rehoboth seeks applicants

Rehoboth Beach is seeking applicants for membership on the planning commission, five committees, and one task force. The city desires individuals who would like to take an active role in maintaining and enhancing Rehoboth Beach as an enjoyable and beautiful city in which to visit, work, and live.Membership opportunities are available on the following: planning commission, trees and green infrastructure committee, Boardwalk and beach committee, environment committee, streets and transportation committee, animal issues committee, and Wilmington-Baltimore Avenue streetscape task force.Nominees for membership are selected by the mayor and commissioners. Bioenergy plant on Sussex agenda March 16

Sussex County Council will meet at 10 a.m., Tuesday, March 16, in the Carter Partnership Center at Delaware Technical Community College in Georgetown. Included on the agenda is a public hearing on a conditional- use application filed by Bioenergy Devco for a poultry waste recycling plant at 28338 Enviro Way off Route 13A, Seaford. Portion of Hollyville Road is closed

Hollyville Road between Harmony Cemetery Road and Lawson Road near Millsboro is closed due to the failure of an underground crossroad pipe. The road will be closed until 5 p.m., Friday, March 12, as work proceeds to replace the pipe. Detour signage is in place. Crossroad pipes allow water to flow from one side of the road to the other. Once a pipe starts to collapse, the structure can no longer support vehicular traffic or transport water flow.

RD20 Democratic Committee to meet

The Delaware 20th Representative District’s Democratic Committee will meet at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 18, via Zoom. Candidates running for officer positions at the Sussex County Democratic Party Caucus, set for Monday, March 22, will discuss their respective platforms. RD20 committee members will also elect delegates to the Delaware Democratic Party Convention set for 9 a.m., Saturday, June 12, via a virtual platform. Any registered Democrat residing in District 20 may run as a delegate. Details about the state convention and the delegate selection process will be posted at www.rd20deldems.com when they become available. Any registered Democrat in Delaware is welcome to participate in RD20’s committee meeting. However, registration for non-committee people is required by emailing rd20.deldems@gmail.com including legal name and street address for verification purposes.
