Lewes Canalfront Park courts closed
The City of Lewes has closed the basketball courts in Canalfront Park due to ongoing construction in the area.
The courts are expected to possibly remain closed until Wednesday, April 2.
The city said the closure is to ensure safety while the work is being done.
Lewes architecture group to meet April 3
The Lewes Historic Preservation Architectural Review Commission will hold its monthly meeting at 6 p.m., Thursday, April 3, at the Rollins Center.
The panel is set to discuss and possibly take action on an application by St. Peter's Episcopal Church for an exterior glass portico, change in stairs, new exterior door to the parish hall and more.

Rehoboth Beach Patrol tryout dates
The Rehoboth Beach Patrol’s final tryout date for the 2025 season will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 5, at Sussex Academy High School, 21150 Airport Road, Georgetown.
To be considered for hire, all applicants will be required to take a test that includes a 1-mile run, push-ups, sit-ups, a 550-yard swim, a 100-yard sprint swim, a 25-yard underwater swim and two types of pool rescues. There are time completion requirements. Applicants can be 15 at the time of the tryout, but must be 16 on or before Memorial Day weekend, and be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and first aid. Applicants also must complete the online employment application.
The 2025 salary for lifeguards starts at $21 per hour.

Rehoboth Avenue paving begins April 6
Delaware Department of Transportation has announced paving operations will begin Sunday, April 6, on Rehoboth Avenue.
Work will take place overnight, between 6 p.m. and 6 a.m., from Second Street to the traffic circle, and is expected to be completed by Friday, May 16. Motorists should expect lane closures and parking restrictions during construction.
Rehoboth Ave. bridge info session April 7
Delaware Department of Transportation will hold a meeting at 5 p.m., Monday, April 7, in the Rehoboth Beach Convention Center, 229 Rehoboth Ave., to discuss maintenance work for the Rehoboth Avenue drawbridge in Rehoboth Beach.
The Rehoboth Avenue drawbridge project, which includes cleaning and painting the bridge’s structural steel to prevent corrosion, is expected to take about 10 weeks to complete and will occur between October 2025 and April 2026. This session will cover why the painting is needed, the project timeline, and how it will affect Canal Street and marine traffic.
Closures planned at routes 1 and 16
The Delaware Department of Transportation has announced lane closures will occur from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Tuesday, April 8, at the intersection of Route 1 and Route 16 for bridge inspection.
