Norman G. Reynolds, talented organist
Norman G. Reynolds, 86, of Milford, passed away peacefully Saturday, March 12, 2022, at Bayhealth Medical Center, Sussex Campus, Milford.
Norman was born July 14, 1935, to the late John and Elsie (Davidson) Reynolds in Milton.
Norman graduated from Milton High School in 1953 and began working for the Delaware National Guard for three years. In 1956, he started working as a banker at Milford Trust Company, then Bank of Delaware, and finally retired from PNC in 1992. After a short six-week retirement, he began working for Brooks Courier Service until 2014.
He was known for his mastery of piano and organ. For 60 years, he served as the organist at Ellendale United Methodist Church. He also played at many old-fashioned hymn sings, with William H. Prettyman on the saxophone.
In addition to his parents, Norman is preceded in death by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty” Mills; his brother-in-law, Edgar Mills; and his grandson, Brad White.
He will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 63 years, Gladys Jefferson Reynolds; his son, Norman Kenneth Reynolds and wife Amanda; his daughter, Rhonda Reynolds Thompson and husband Mickey; nine grandchildren, Brian Reynolds, Brad and Ashley Reynolds, Sydney Reynolds, Jeffrey Perry, Joseph and Alexandra Perry, and Emily and Zachary Allen; and six great-grandchildren with two more on the way.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, March 19, at Berry-Short Funeral Home, 119 N.W. Front St., Milford. A time of visitation will begin at 11 a.m. Interment is private.
