Olivia Manning wins Miss Black Delaware USA
Olivia Manning captured the title of Miss Black Delaware USA 2017. Manning, a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. and alumna of Delaware State University, proves beauty queens are more than a pretty face. Her platform is Mental Health Awareness which will involve healing, encouraging, learning and preventing mental illnesses in children and adolescents. During her reign, Manning will promote her platform throughout the state.
She will go on to represent the State of Delaware in the 2017 Miss Black USA Scholarship Pageant, Wednesday-Monday, Aug. 2-7, in Washington, D.C. for the chance to earn a $5,000 academic scholarship, a trip to Africa, a shoe wardrobe by Liliana Shoes and ORS Olive Oil Hair products, and serve as a celebrity advocate for the Heart Truth campaign to raise awareness of heart disease, the leading cause of death of women in the United States.
Miss Black USA is the nation's premier pageant for women of color. The nonprofit organization, headquartered in the State of Maryland, has awarded over $450,000 in scholarships its participants to date.
