Papa Grande’s in Rehoboth/Fenwick to celebrate Cinco de Mayo
Papa Grande’s Coastal Taqueria locations in downtown Rehoboth Beach and Fenwick Island will be pulling out the stops Thursday, May 5, to celebrate Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican holiday that pays tribute to the Mexican militia’s triumph over the French Army at the Battle of Puebla in 1862.
“This is an important Mexican holiday that’s spilled over into the American culture,” said Ronnie Burkle, director of operations for SoDel Concepts, which owns Papa Grande’s as well as six other beach-area restaurants, Plate Catering and the food truck Big Thunder Roadside Kitchen.
“The French were formidable, and odds of winning the battle were not in Mexico’s favor. So, the victory was cause for a big celebration. Mixing Mexican history and culture with the menu and atmosphere at Papa Grande’s makes for a great party that lasts all day long.”
Both restaurants will open at noon. The Papa Grande’s restaurant in Fenwick Island will host a whole pig roast and a Burley Oak tap takeover. Both restaurants will have drink and food specials.
