Paula Hilda Kaminsky, dedicated nurse

August 22, 2022

Paula Hilda Kaminsky joined the family circle in a better place Sunday, Aug. 14, 2022. Paula was born in 1954, and was the faithful daughter of Paul P. Kaminsky and Margaret Porter Warrington Kaminsky. She was the loving sister of Patricia Kaminsky of Lewes, Paul P. Kaminsky Jr. (Donna)of Plano, Texas, and Alexander P. Kaminsky of Boca Raton, Fla. She was also the beloved aunt of Alexandra Louise Kaminsky of Houston, Texas, and Kathryn Ann Kaminsky of Austin, Texas.

Paula graduated from Cape Henlopen High School Class of 1973 with honors, and then went on to Beebe School of Nursing, graduating in 1976. She worked for Beebe for 30 years, starting out on med-surg, ICU for 10 years, 3-11 supervisor for 11 years and finally as an office nurse. She went to school at night to get her bachelor of nursing arts degree from Wilmington College, where she again graduated with honors in 1986. She took great pride in acing her ACLS certifications over many years.

The world was not necessarily kind to Paula but Paula was kind to the world and all the people she encountered. She never said a harsh word against anyone. She loved her family, friends, and cats unconditionally, no matter how strange they were (mostly the cats). During her time with us, she gave shelter to many, many people. Her life was simple and pure, and her love was that of the angels.

We thank Suzann Simmons and her family for all the caring and love over the years, Dr. Harry for giving Paula a happy office and all the friends who added to her life. We thank all her Lewes doctors over the years. We are also grateful for the immense effort by all the specialists and nursing staff at Johns Hopkins, especially her neurosurgeon, Dr. Nickolas Theodore, and her attending physician, Dr. Andi Shahu. Thank you Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium for bringing her home.

Going forward, because it’s the only path we have, Paula would want you all to take care of yourselves, be kind and maybe, if called, adopt a child, a cat, or a dog.

Come remember Paula with us from 2 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 28, at Virden Retreat Center, 700 Pilottown Rd., Lewes.

May her memory be eternal.
