Peninsula Gallery hosts guest artist John Aquilino

May 3, 2023

The Peninsula Gallery will host John Aquilino as its May guest artist.

Born and raised in the New York City metropolitan area, Aquilino has been a working artist for 20 years. After leaving Manhattan, Aquilino relocated his studios to Delaware and Maryland, and he exhibits regularly in galleries across Maryland, Connecticut and Massachusetts. His work has earned many accolades, including five grants, four awards from the Maryland State Arts Council’s Individual Artist program, and an individual artist grant from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, Md.

Aquilino was last seen at the Peninsula Gallery in 2022 during the Inside, Outside exhibition. In that show, he presented his graphic cityscapes, using bold shapes and intense precision to create artful re-creations of metropolitan scenes. For his guest artist display, Aquilino has left the city and transitioned to the beach, capturing the rushing movement of the ocean’s waves.

Aquilino’s ocean scene guest artist works can be previewed at peninsula-gallery.com.

The Peninsula Gallery Guest Artist program highlights works by a variety of creators. The lineup of participants includes some of the gallery’s resident artists, repeat exhibitors and artists entirely new to the space.

To see the guest artists’ special collections, visit the gallery each month. For details about each artist’s background and creative process, follow Peninsula Gallery’s Instagram and Facebook pages.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, in the Village Shoppes at the Beacon Inn, 520 East Savannah Road, Lewes.
