Peninsula Gallery hosts guest artist Megan Burak in December

December 9, 2022

Artist Megan Burak of Ocean City, Md., brings her striking realism paintings to the Peninsula Gallery for the first time as its December Guest Artist.

A contemporary realist artist working mostly in oil., Burak was born in Pittsburgh and moved to the Eastern Shore of Maryland at the age of 4. Burek said her inspiration is drawn from her emotions and the world as she sees it.

In 2015, Burak graduated from Salisbury University with a bachelor of arts degree and a concentration in two-dimensional art. She has won multiple awards while exhibiting in juried shows and galleries and has shown all around Maryland as well as New York and Washington, D.C. She was a featured artist in 2019 at the Art League of Ocean City, a featured artist in 2018 at the Rehoboth Art League, a semi-finalist in the Bethesda Painting Awards for 2017, a semi-finalist in the Michaels Art Challenge for 2016, and the recipient of the University Center Art Award from Salisbury University for 2015. Several of her pieces have been purchased by Salisbury University as part of its permanent collection.  She currently lives and paints in West Ocean City.

Burek chose to display oil paintings that have a mystic realism to them. The works embrace imagery associated with the occult and spiritualism to create an eerie aura in each scene, transporting the viewer into times past.

Her five guest artist pieces can be previewed at peninsula-gallery.com.

The Peninsula Gallery Guest Artist program highlights works by a variety of creators. The lineup of participants includes some of the gallery’s resident artists, repeat exhibitors and artists entirely new to the space.

The gallery is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday to Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Sunday, in the Village Shoppes at the Beacon Inn, 520 East Savannah Road, Lewes.
