Put together a long day including a flyover opening ceremony, six bands on two stages, entertainment, a cornhole tournament, Delaware State Police helicopter, food and merchandise merchants, touch-a-truck and emergency services exhibits, and you have the second annual Henlopen Springfest held May 25 at Hudson Fields near Milton.
This year’s host, Endeavor Lodge No. 17 of Milton, also staged one of the largest car and truck shows ever seen in the area. Memorial Fire Company in Slaughter Beach offered fire truck rides as well as rides on its mini pull train, and Milton Fire Department gave children the opportunity to use one of its hoses to shoot water. There were nearly a dozen inflatables, axe throwing and games.
Proceeds benefit charitable organizations such as Camp Barnes, Friends of the Fallen and Shriners Children’s Hospital. Funds also go to support families and first responders in need of food and clothing.
