Terry Wilkerson is right; the lane at the intersection of Postal Road and Route 1 that is currently dedicated for use only by the few traveling straight across to the movie theater area should be redesigned to give drivers the option to turn north on Route 1 or to go straight across. Terry’s proposal makes sense.
Traffic on Postal Lane backs up all the way to Cedar Grove and Plantation Road. Residents of Sandy Brae have a hard time getting out of any of the four exits from the development when traffic is heavy. With more homes being built west of Sandy Brae, the increased use of the narrow two-lane Postal Road coupled with those not heeding the speed limit, hazards are multiplying. Allowing more backed-up traffic to go north through the Postal Lane to Route 1 intersection might alleviate some of the problem that will only grow worse as new homes west of the area become occupied.
Postal Lane is full of accidents waiting to happen from the entrances to the Acme shopping center and American Classic Golf Course to Plantation Road. Corrective action should be taken, and soon.
