Racial justice alliance awards Cape High students

Kimora Christopher, Ray Mitchell earn school honors
December 9, 2021

The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored students from Cape Henlopen High School for their demonstration of leadership, improvement, effort and excellence.

Kimora Christopher and Ray Mitchell are Pathways to Success students and have displayed positive behavior, leadership and skills, teachers said.

Kimora has been a big help to the school’s freshmen students, taking them under her wing, helping them with class schedules, tutoring and mentoring. Ray has been a quiet type of leader, setting a good example by encouraging and talking positively to his peers.

Each student received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth and the youth version of the book “Just Mercy,” by Cape High grad Bryan Stevenson, a civil rights attorney and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative organization.

SDARJ’s education committee initiated the award to recognize students in the Cape district who represent ideals of leadership, effort and excellence in their schools. A nonpartisan organization, SDARJ educates, informs and advocates for racial justice, equality and fair opportunity. For more information, go to sdarj.org.
