The Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice recently honored Mariner Middle students Tori Minor and Izabel Kelly-Conaway for their demonstration of leadership, improvement, effort and excellence.
Minor is a great student and role model who works hard and respects others. She is dedicated to all she does, and teachers are proud to have her on their team.
Kelly-Conaway is a hard worker who demonstrates leadership in the classroom. She sets high expectations for herself and constantly challenges her peers with insightful thoughts and questions.
Each student received a $20 gift card to Browseabout Books in Rehoboth Beach and the youth version of the book “Just Mercy,” by Cape High grad Bryan Stevenson, a civil rights attorney and founder of the Equal Justice Initiative organization.
SDARJ’s education committee initiated the award to recognize students in the Cape district who represent ideals of leadership, effort and excellence in their schools. A nonpartisan organization, SDARJ educates, informs and advocates for racial justice, equality and fair opportunity. For more information, go to sdarj.org.
