RBFS selects Claudia Ratner's "Towering Infilmo" as art theme

The Rehoboth Beach Film Society’s Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Claudia Ratner’s mixed digital media submission titled “Towering Infilmo” was selected as the art theme for the 17th anniversary of the Rehoboth Beach Independent Film Festival.

“Towering Infilmo” will be the theme of the poster, program, ads, T-shirts, and other collateral materials. The July release of the poster is much anticipated throughout coastal Sussex County.

Ratner is a senior at Cape Henlopen High School. Her extracurricular activities include National Honor Society, varsity sports, and Leo Club, as well as being a piano student. Her resumé is very impressive for a high school student, with many awards, recognitions, philanthropic experience, and employment history. In the fall she will be attending the University of South Carolina to major in visual communications.

When asked what was the inspiration for her artwork, Claudia replied, “As a local, I’ve grown up going to the beach with the towers looming overhead. Although they were originally built for the war, the towers are now a beloved part of the beach landscape, providing a beautifully serene backdrop.”

Executive Director Sue Early said, “The film society is delighted to showcase the work of a young emerging artist.”

Bids for the original “Towering Infilmo” will be accepted during the film festival (Nov. 5-9, 2014) through a silent auction process.

Board President Darrel Grinstead said, “The film society appreciates the work of all the artists who create a special piece of art just for this competition. The individual creativity and talent that is displayed in each submission is enjoyable to view as well as challenging to judge.”

The film society will again invite artists to submit work for the 2015 Film Festival.  Artists interested in participating in this process should email info@rehobothfilm.com for guidelines and due date.

The mission of the Rehoboth Beach Film Society is promoting cinematic arts, and providing education and cultural enrichment for the community.
