Red Hats celebrate Talk Like a Pirate Day Sept. 19

September 28, 2024

International Talk Like A Pirate Day, Sept. 19, was celebrated by Red Hat Society Chapter Pirates of the Delaware Bay at Crabby Dick’s in Lewes. The same women belong to the RHS Evening Primrose Chapter of Lewes; both groups were founded in 2013. In these active chapters, members range in age from 55 to 83, and they are always looking for new individuals to join.

The Pirates often invite their “mates” as their guests for socializing and fun; all must dress in pirate attire, and they meet mostly during the summer months for adventures. The Evening Primrose Chapter meets once a month throughout the year, and members dress in the traditional purple with red hats.

The Red Hat Society is the world’s largest social group for women. The membership is active in 30 countries and all are connected through a hub at the Hatquarters in Fullerton, Calif. For details, go to redhatsociety.com, or locally, contact Ambassador BJ Young at bjy324@verizon.net or 302-265-7756.
