Red Mill Monograms now open in Rehoboth

Red Mill Monograms owner Greg Troup said he jumped at the chance to sign the lease for his new Rehoboth Avenue retail store. He said he knew immediately it would be a good spot for his family’s growing business.
“My wife and I have been looking to have a beach location for the shop, and this location fits just right. This is a good town to grow a business in,” he said recently. “It’s just beautiful around here.”
Located at 63 Rehoboth Ave., Red Mill Monograms specializes in signage made out of PVC. Troup said his product “won’t rot, won’t rust, it’s paintable and it’s stainable.”
Troup said the business opened May 25 in Rehoboth. He said he and his wife started the business three years ago in Pennsylvania, with most of the work coming from online. Shortly afterward they started a mobile location with Troup’s brother-in-law, and now, he said, they’re here at the beach.
A sign on the outside of the store says the keepsakes are made in minutes. During the interview, a customer ordered one for a friend and Troup got to show off how. With the push of a button on a small remote, a CNC machine and vacuum to suck up the PVC dust whirred on. Two minutes and 12 seconds later, Troup had the sign in hand and was giving the back a quick sanding to soften some edges.
The business’ seagreen showroom walls are lined with examples of the 16-inch, bright white PVC signs. Troup said there are 250 designs to choose from and the wording can be customized. The cost for the 16-inch is $35. Designs can also be made in 32-inch for $140 and 48-inch for $315.
Troup said he prides himself on customer service.
“We’re Chick-fil-A nice, but funnier,” he said.
Troup said he has other ideas on how to grow the business – for example, monogram paint nights and designs for local businesses. There’s a great opportunity for cross-promotion with local restaurants and bars, he said.
