Rehoboth Art League Cottage Tour exceeds expectations

Peter Marsh Homestead included in Rehoboth Art League Cottage Tour

The Rehoboth Art League’s 63nd Annual Cottage Tour, July 10-11 welcomed over 1,000 guests.  A special thank you went out to J. Conn Scott, the underwriter of this year's tour.

This year, the interior of the historic Peter Marsh Homestead was transformed by designers Richard Scott and Lisa Fulton.  Visitors to the Homestead lingered to capture a glimpse at what life might have been like in the Cape Henlopen area in 1743.

Celebrating its 63rd anniversary, the Rehoboth Art League Cottage Tour is one of the region’s oldest cottage tour events.  This annually anticipated event reveals the imagination and creativity of homeowners in the areas of architectural, interior and landscape designs.

The gracious home owners this year were Randy Reed and Bill Dilsey, Frank Cooper and John Bisch, Deb Ward and Marie Murray, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Dieterle, Dr. and Mrs. Michael Lupinacci, Mr. and Mrs. John Connelly and Mr. and Mrs. William Farmer.

At a patron party held July, 5 homeowners who opened their homes for the tour were each presented with an original painting of their home by artist Jan Crooker, with the images used in the tour booklet.

The tour would not be possible without the seamless coordination of committee members, staff and countless volunteers.  Ann Cunningham, chairwoman of the cottage tour committee, noted “The 63rd annual RAL Cottage Tour was once again a fabulous success. We were blessed with great weather, wonderful homeowners who generously opened their beautiful homes and creative florists who donated their time and materials to insure that each home was very special.”  Echelon Custom Homes Schell Brothers and Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty were major sponsors of the tour.

Next year’s cottage tour dates are Tuesday and Wednesday, July 9-10.  This August, the 39th Annual Outdoor Fine Art and Fine Craft takes place on two weekends, Fridays and Saturdays, Aug. 11-12, and August 18-19.
