Rehoboth Beach couple to celebrate 60th anniversary Sept. 26
Nancy and Joe McDonnell of Rehoboth Beach were married Sept. 26, 1964, at the Holy Redeemer Church in Freeport, Long Island, N.Y.
The couple will celebrate their anniversary with a family gathering and trip to Bermuda, their favorite vacation spot.
Joe and Nancy met in their hometown of Rockville Centre in Long Island, and after the couple married, they moved to the Baltimore area for work.
A retired Navy commander, Joe worked as an electrical engineer as well as an appraiser in Delaware. He currently works at the front desk for the Boardwalk Plaza Hotel. Nancy was a real estate broker in Catonsville, Md. Now retired, she volunteers with the Village Improvement Association in Rehoboth Beach, helping with various activities including work at the Rehoboth Beach Museum.
In the summer of 1974, the couple bought a small vacation home in North Shores where they could enjoy downtime with family. After making many great memories at the beach, they officially retired in the early 2000s and made it their home.
Joe and Nancy have four children, six grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way. They enjoy spending time with their family and friends, golfing, reading and traveling.
