May 5, 2023

Rehoboth Beach Main Street recently announced George Yaksic joined the organization as part-time program coordinator April 3, filling a new staff position.

As coordinator, he is responsible for maintaining the membership database, managing RBMS correspondence, managing and maintaining successful relationships with the media, and other tasks. Yaksic will work closely with RBMS Executive Director Dan Slagle to ensure RBMS continues as a successful, well-managed organization.

Rehoboth Beach Main Street is a not-for-profit organization comprising downtown merchants and supportive residents who love Rehoboth Beach, and are dedicated to keeping it a real hometown and a thriving resort community.

“Rehoboth Beach Main Street is thrilled to have George Yaksic as a member of our team of staff and volunteers,” said Slagle.

Dick Byrne, RBMS president, said, “[RBMS] celebrates our amazing community, our commitment to support local, and our passion for our unique breathtaking downtown. Rehoboth Beach Main Street works to promote downtown Rehoboth Beach as a year-round beach town with a vibrant commercial area, attractive signage and storefronts, a full calendar of events, and economic programs benefiting the business and residential community.”

Recent and upcoming RBMS events include the Gumbo Crawl, co-sponsored with Purple Parrot Grill; Oldies Dance to benefit Rehoboth in Bloom, a program of RBMS; Margarita Crawl; and Community Unity Dinner.

Yaksic comes to RBMS with experience in a variety of fields over many years, which has prepared him to work with the business members of RBMS. He has 15 years of experience in hotel and property management, as well as real estate rentals and sales in the coastal Delaware environment. He has also been a server in a Rehoboth Beach-area restaurant, a hotel general manager and guest services agent, and a Rehoboth Beach condominium resident manager.

Yaksic also has been a litigation support consultant in Washington, D.C., responsible for marketing, design, management and quality control of computer-support projects for large-scale litigation. In this role, he also supervised the creation and maintenance of databases for public- and private-sector clientele.

Born in Youngstown, Ohio, Yaksic attended Denison University. He met his wife Peggy in Rehoboth Beach and moved here permanently in 1990. He has one son, Andrew.

Active in community organizations and activities, Yaksic has volunteered with the Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce for the Sea Witch Festival, played Santa Claus at the annual RBMS Community Unity Dinner, and volunteered with the annual film and jazz festivals.
