Rehoboth library board of trustees adds at-large members

June 18, 2024

The Rehoboth Beach Public Library board of trustees approved the addition of three at-large members at its April board meeting.

In the next few years, the library plans to: continue to operate the Rehoboth Avenue location, renovate the Rehoboth Avenue location, purchase land on Warrington Road for a second library, build the second Rehoboth Beach Public Library on Warrington Road, and operate both the Rehoboth Avenue and Warrington Road libraries.

Members of the board of trustees are: Kay Wheatley, president; Rose Marie Patin, vice president; James Berry, treasurer; Liane McDowell Sorenson, secretary; Tom Wontorek; and new at-large members Doug Kleintop, Dave Eason, Linda Tunie and Joe Wade.

Overseeing the operations of the existing library can be accomplished with five board members and one at-large member, but having these additional responsibilities going forward, board members felt adding three new at-large members would best serve growing needs. Board members have experience in many areas including library administration, finance, public relations, fundraising, construction, community relations, education and working with local governments, all needed to help the library provide the best services to the community.
