Rehoboth Merle Norman Studio adds gift shop

Merle Norman Owner Patty McClain has added a gift shop to her makeup studio this year.

Since McClain bought the makeup store in August, she puzzled over what to do with an unoccupied section of retail space in the unit.

Other Merle Norman studios sometimes include a dress shop or hair salon so she explored the available options that would not compete with her business neighbors in Camelot Shopping Center.

That's when the owner decided to offer festive housewares and holiday accessories from her studio with Gifts 4 U & Me, a small outlet for household accessories and gifts wares.

"In order to utilize this space the best, I worked to pull in some fun gifts," McClain said.

She decided to add the gift shop late last year and said it's been a quiet winter since the holidays, but McClain is looking forward to warmer weather and a boost in sales as people discover the gifts she has added.

Now, in addition to the full range of Merle Norman skincare products in her studio, the business owner offers candles, hostess gifts, silk flower arrangements, acrylic glassware and Caspari greeting cards.

"It's an easy option," she said. "If you are entertaining for the weekend or holidays, we have the themed napkins and fun giftware to pick up on the go."
