The official kickoff to the 2016 holiday season will be Rehoboth Beach Main Street's tree lighting and sing-along at the bandstand from 6:30 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 25.
This year's tree has been generously donated anonymously. Doug Yetter and the Village Improvement Association Chorus will host the sing-along and officially illuminate the city's most famous tree.
Drexel Davison, owner of Bad Hair Day, will emcee, and Sussex Dance Academy dancers dressed in costume from “The Nutcracker” will be passing out candy canes to the crowd.
Sing-along song lyrics will be available to Cape Gazette subscribers in the ‘Tis The Season holiday guide insert coming out Tuesday, Nov. 22, and on newsstands Friday, Nov. 25.
