Rep. Ruth Briggs King files for re-election

Delaware Rep. Ruth Briggs King, R-Georgetown, recently filed for re-election to the seat she has held since 2009.

The Republican incumbent was first elected as representative for the 37th District that serves the Georgetown area following a special election, and she has won election to the office ever since.

In addition to serving on several House of Representatives committees, including the influential budget-writing Joint Finance Committee, Briggs King has tackled workers’ compensation reform, prevailing wage reform and financial literacy. She has served on the Structural Revenue Review Task Force, the Mental Health Task Force, Educational Funding Task Force and Retired Employee Benefits Task Force. Briggs King is currently serving as a member of the Law Enforcement Accountability Task Force, as well as a member of the Aging-in-Place Working Group.

Briggs King is married to Stanley King; they have two adult sons and six grandchildren.
