The Rehoboth Beach-Dewey Beach Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting celebration for two new facilities at Kings Creek Country Club. A luxurious partly covered outside patio bar and grill has opened with a picturesque view of the 18th hole, and a state-of-the-art short-game practice green has opened adjacent to the clubhouse, with multiple sand trap and approach positions.
Club Manager Don Byerly said, “The new outside eating patio complements and doubles the capacity of our already popular inside Eagles Nest lounge. It will be a comfortable lunch destination for mid-round and post-round golfers, as well as providing a relaxing dining and beverage experience for all club members, both day and evening.”
Head Golf Professional Kevin Wiest said, “Golf professionals unanimously agree that a large, well-designed short-game area can help golfers dramatically reduce their scores and handicaps. The new Kings Creek short-game practice area, with an undulating green, multiple-positioned sand traps and a variety of approach positions, makes this new setup one of the finest practice areas in the region.”
Features of the new outdoor bar and patio include a large U-shaped bar with granite countertops seating 18; patio tables seating 42; a new paver patio that offers a seven-foot fire pit with 10 large Adirondack chairs; three 65-inch TVs and sound system; a comprehensive view of both the 18th hole and the club putting green; and walking distance to the putting green, the new short-game area and the clubhouse.
Byerly said, “Two-thirds of the bar and patio area – 1,300 square feet – will be under cover, with another 800 square feet of uncovered paver patio and the fire pit. In addition, weather permitting, we intend to offer live music with a variety of formats every Friday evening for the further enjoyment of our members and guests.”
The new short-game practice area is adjacent to the club entrance driveway. Wiest said, “In addition to being close to the golf shop and the clubhouse, the large expanse of the approach areas and the greens serves to provide a plush view for everyone entering the club parking lot and grounds. It is both a practical gem for golfers as well as a visual treat for all Kings Creek members and guests.”
Kings Creek Country Club is located on Kings Creek Circle in Rehoboth Beach. Its entrance is across from the Gateway Shopping Center with Fresh Market, and Bed, Bath and Beyond stores one block west of Route 1 off Shuttle Road.
