Richard “Rick” Dale Smith, superintendent
Mr. Richard “Rick” Dale Smith, 57, of Dagsboro passed away unexpectedly Monday, Sept. 23, 2019.
Rick was born in Wheeling, W.Va., July 17, 1962, to the late Charles E. and Freda Smith. In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Smith.
He was employed by Quality Heating & Air Co. where he worked as a superintendent for the last 12 years. Some of his hobbies included carpentry, woodworking and working in his garage. Rick was known as a hard worker, honest, friendly, and a family man who will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Melissa Bailey Smith of Dagsboro; three daughters, Heidi Smith (Nathan Sprout) of Georgetown, Taylor Smith and Nicole Smith, both of Dagsboro; two brothers, Eddie Smith and Chuck Smith, and a sister, Debbie Smith, all of W. Va. He is also survived by his aunt Debbie and Uncle George of Dagsboro, as well as a granddaughter, Hayden. He also leaves behind many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 29, at Watson Funeral Home, 211 S. Washington St., Millsboro, where friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for viewing and visitation. Burial will follow at the Dagsboro Redmen Memorial Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
