Robert M. Shea, loved traveling, music
Robert “Bob” M. Shea, 89, of Lewes, passed away Friday, Sept. 29, 2023, following a brief illness. He was born April 14, 1934, in Elizabeth, N.J., son of the late George and Anna (Renaud) Shea.
Bob graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in New Jersey. Following his graduation, he worked for Prudential Insurance Company until he enlisted in the U.S. Army, where he served in the Finance Corps in occupied Germany. After his service, Bob graduated from Seton Hall University with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics, later earning an MBA from Keller Graduate School of Management in Chicago. His career, ending in forensic accounting, was spent in the insurance industry.
Before retiring, Bob was active in business associations and community volunteering, and following 9/11 he helped at the respite station at St. Paul’s Chapel in New York for workers on the World Trade Center site. After retiring and moving to Lewes, Bob continued to be active in his community as a board member of Friends of the Lewes Library, Cape Henlopen Food Basket, Delaware Humanities, and Plantations East HOA and COA. He loved to study and travel, and his last trip was a grand one to Ireland to celebrate his 80th birthday. Bob loved music and sang in town and gown choruses and church choirs for years.
Bob and his surviving wife, Liz, were blessed to be part of a large and wonderful extended family.
