Robert Thomas Clydesdale, owned repair shop

August 8, 2017

Robert Thomas Clydesdale, 75, passed away peacefully in his sleep at home in Milford, Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2017.

Born in Carney's Point, N.J., Oct. 24, 1941, he moved to Cape May, N.J., with his parents and siblings where he attended Cape May High School, and continued on to serve in the U.S. Marines Corps and proudly served his country until being honorably discharged in 1966.

Moving back to his hometown of Cape May, he established his own repair shop, where he fixed anything from small cars to heavy equipment. Throughout his years in business, known to so many as Clydesdale's Auto Repair, he established many lifelong friends and relationships, where he enjoyed many happy hours at “The Shop.” Throughout his lifetime, he was an avid fisherman, hunter and very much enjoyed gardening. He was the proud owner of several antique Corvettes, hotrods, and numerous toys.

Bob was a good family man and had a heart of gold, beneath his rough and tough exterior. He was a very smart man, who often gave good wisdom and advice to those who sought it.

Bob was predeceased by his parents; Thomas H. and Alice R. Clydesdale, and his best friend and brother James D. Clydesdale, and leaves behind to forever cherish and miss him, his brother Thomas R. Clydesdale; his sister Joi Clydesdale; children Robert J. (Krystl), Bonnie (Larry), Tara (Mike) and Amy (John); his grandchildren Kara, Ryan, Finnegan, Elliott, Adrian and Fiona; his nephew TJ; and his nieces Allison (Keith), Kristi and Erica. Interment will be private for the family, with a memorial service at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, please make any donations to The Wounded Warrior Project, PO Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675-8517 in Robert Clydesdale's name.
