Robert ‘Bob’ Tweed, meticulous craftsman

Robert “Bob” P. Tweed, 54, of Rehoboth Beach, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012, at Beebe Medical Center.  He was born Saturday, Nov. 9, 1957, in Wilmington, son of the late Kenneth R. Tweed.  In addition to his father he was predeceased by his grandparents, Walter P. and Dorothy A. (Suppi) Sweetman and George T. and Dorothy E.  (Chambers) Tweed.

Mr. Tweed was a lifelong resident of Delaware.  Following his graduation from Glasgow High School in 1976, Mr. Tweed enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps for four years; he proudly served his country in Okinawa.   After completing his military obligation, Mr. Tweed began a lifelong career in the construction industry.  His artistic talents and meticulous craftsmanship flourished throughout his career.  He was very proud of his Native American culture, Lenni  Lenape, and enjoyed sharing his heritage with others.    Mr. Tweed served as president of Slaughter Beach Chapter of the Pagan Motorcycle Club where he was instrumental in running charity events for the disabled children of Sussex County.  He loved volunteering in his community and sharing a smile with everyone he met.  He was a loving father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be fondly remembered by all those whose lives he touched.

Mr. Tweed is survived by his mother,  Sandra J. Sweetman; five daughters: Erica, Erin, Toni, Bobbie and Riccie; five grandchildren:  Evan, Blaze, Israel, Isaiah and Cheyanna; his brother, Richard K. Tweed and wife Patricia and their children Jackie, Shelley and Albert; and many loving nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

A public viewing will be held from 2 to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 14, at the Pagan Clubhouse, Gov. Stockley Road, Georgetown, (behind Melvin Joseph Construction Co.). Eulogies will begin at 4 p.m. Interment will be private.  Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Lewes.
