The Room at Cedar Grove announces June 16-18 lineup

June 8, 2023

The Room at Cedar Grove near Lewes is offering three opportunities to give dads the gift of music this Father’s Day.

The venue will host The Shady Recruits Friday, June 16, Eliot Lewis Saturday, June 17, and Lauren Calve on Father’s Day, Sunday, June 18.

The concerts benefit Paul Kares, a charity that supports aspiring musicians and hospitality-industry professionals.

Based in Greenville, S.C., The Shady Recruits is a five-piece band influenced by Funkadelic, Frank Zappa and Steely Dan.

“They call their music ‘tasty tunes,’” said Paul Cullen, co-founder of Paul Kares. “They’re funky and jazzy with a lot of fun improvisation.”

The concert includes a four-course wine dinner, and tickets are $85 each.

Singer-songwriter Eliot Lewis, a repeat visitor to the local venue, is an accomplished multi-instrumentalist who played with Daryl Hall & John Oates. He’s also appeared on the “Live From Daryl’s House” show.

“Eliot has become a regular at The Room at Cedar Grove,” said Cullen, who played bass with Bad Company before launching his culinary career. “He’s mastered so many instruments and played with the best of the best — Joe Walsh, Cheap Trick, Squeeze and Todd Rundgren.”

The Eliot Lewis concert also includes a wine dinner, and tickets are $75 each.

Rising star Lauren Calve is a singer-songwriter and storyteller steeped in Americana and the blues tradition. The Washington, D.C.-based artist is known for her soulful singing and skillful musicianship. Tickets are $25, and The Room will feature a selection of Father’s Day dishes for a separate fee.

The Room at Cedar Grove is at 32882 Cedar Grove Road, Lewes, near Route 1. For tickets, go to paulkaresde.org/concerts.
