The Room to host jam, rock, soul and jazz Aug. 24-25

Gordon Sterling & The People will perform at 6:30 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 24, at at The Room at Cedar Grove, 32882 Cedar Grove Road near Lewes.

Sterling, a Jamaican-American singer, songwriter and guitarist, founded the ensemble based in Washington, D.C. Reggae, blues, funk and rock influences meld in the dynamic group’s sound.

The jazz group 5th Avenue will play for the Sunday brunch crowd at 11 a.m., Aug. 25.  Performers include Vincent Varrassi, Ken Schleifer and Jeff Cooper.

Events held at The Room benefit Paul Kares, a nonprofit founded to support aspiring musicians and culinary artists. The organization offers grants for education, equipment and travel expenses.
