RSVP by Aug. 8 for Bethany-Fenwick area lifeguard awards

The Bethany-Fenwick Area Chamber of Commerce will host the 2024 Lifeguard Award Celebration from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 13, at Big Chill Beach Club.

This annual event honors the outstanding men and women of the local lifeguard patrols including Bethany Beach, Delaware Seashore State Park, Fenwick Island, Middlesex Beach, North Bethany, Sea Colony and South Bethany. Each patrol nominates a Lifeguard of the Year to be honored during the event. 
 

This community celebration will kick off in the event tent at the Big Chill Beach Club with a taco bar and music DJ Bump.This year’s event will also recognize the guards who will compete in the USLA Nationals representing Sussex County. The chamber will assist in sponsoring qualifying guards for the 2024 USLA Nationals in South Padre Island, Texas.

Each guard will attend the event for free. This event takes place each year due to the generosity of sponsor support. Supporting sponsor is Fells Point Surf Company. Patrol sponsors are Anne Powell – Coldwell Banker Realty, Banks Wines & Spirits, Coastal Services, Custom Mechanical, Law Offices of Scott & Shuman, Piper By Marni, PNC Bank of Bethany Beach, and Sea Colony. Buoy sponsors are Bank of Ocean City, Scherer Financial Advisors and Taylor Bank.
