Ruth Etta Elder, Beebe Healthcare retiree
Ruth “Ruthie” Etta Elder peacefully passed away from natural causes Wednesday, Feb. 2, 2022.
Ruth was born Oct. 9, 1943, in Wilmington, but grew up in Milton, where she proudly graduated from Milton High School. After graduation, she relocated to Lewes and never left.
Ruthie had two children, Billy Boyer (Charity) and Lori Brown (Karl). They provided her with four grandchildren, Aaron, Victoria, Lauren Devaux, and Kassidy Brown.
Ruth was employed with Beebe Medical Center for 26 years in the registration department of the E.R. She retired from Beebe in 2003 and took a job at the American Legion, Post 17 as a bartender.
Ruth loved to dance, cruise, and be around the many friends that she was blessed with, and was grateful for, in her life. More than anything though, she loved being a “Sussex County Girl” and often reminisced of the days when Lou Ianire’s was the place to be and Pappy’s was on the beach.
Ruth had a warm smile and a caring heart, and she will be missed.
A celebration of Ruthie’s life will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to American Legion Ladies Auxiliary Post 17, American Legion Rd., Lewes, DE 19958.
