Ruth Pearl Jones, excellent homemaker

October 7, 2019

Ruth Pearl Jones, 88, of Millsboro passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 3, 2019, surrounded by her loving family and in the care of Vitas Hospice at her home. She was born April 24, 1931, to the late John and Caroline Stoltzfus Ennis in Westover, Md.

Ruth was one of those wonderful American mothers who married her beloved husband, Charles Jones, and together they co-owned a farm, and Ruth managed raising a family, tended farm chores, remained devoted to her family, and somehow found time to serve as a nurse for babies, and be a distributor for Shaklee products, rising to being a supervisor.  She attended Shiloh Community Church in Laurel. Her great pride was that she met her husband on the promenade at Carey’s Camp. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother, and enjoyed singing hymns. And she was an excellent homemaker. Her beloved husband Charles preceded her in 1983.

Ruth is survived by five children: Jean Handy (Roger) of Millsboro, Allen Jones (Linda) of Millsboro, Michael Jones (Daphne) also of Millsboro, Janice Ciampo (William) of Frankford and Teresa Zeitler, also of Millsboro. Ruth also has two sisters: Mary Stoltzfus of Buhl, Idaho, and Sarah Criswell of Nottingham, Pa. Her legacy is a bountiful number of her cherished grandchildren: 17 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a daughter, Carol Ann Jones, in 1956, and two brothers, John and Henry Ennis.

A Memorial Service and Celebration of Her Life will be held at Discover Church, 406 South Bedford St., Georgetown, with Pastor Curtis Jones officiating.  The service will be held Saturday, Oct. 12, at 2 p.m.
