Sandra Elaine Albright, dedicated educator

Sandra Elaine (Gorlich) Albright passed away Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2025. She was born  April 11, 1949, to the late Julius Gorlich Jr. and Lillian O. Gorlich.

Sandy was a star athlete during her high school years in field hockey and basketball. She was valedictorian of her high school Class of 1967 at Georgetown High School. She pursued a career in elementary education. To this day, Mrs. Albright is revered by many former students as a beloved and favorite teacher.

In her spare time, you could find her reading a book by the pool or beach.

She was very proud and supportive of her family, especially her grandchildren.

Sandy was survived by her three daughters, Dareth (John) Penuel, Kendra (Michael) Peterson and Lindsay (Mike) Short; four grandchildren, Tat (Brittany) Penuel, Lily Penuel, and Jason and Emilyrose Peterson; her brother, John (Hope) Gorlich; nephew, Jason (Mary Katherine) Gorlich; great-nephew, Jamus; great-niece, Cora Gorlich; nephew, Andy (Suzanna) Gorlich; great-nephew, Deacon; great-niece, Piper Gorlich; and other countless family members and friends.

A funeral service for Sandra will be held at noon, Saturday, Feb. 22, at Short Funeral Services Inc., 609 E. Market St., Georgetown, with a viewing from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial will take place in Milford Community Cemetery, Milford.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wesley United Methodist Church, 102 E. Laurel St., Georgetown, DE 19947.
