Sea glass and coastal arts to entice festival-goers June 1-2
The Lewes Historical Society’s 17th annual Mid-Atlantic Sea Glass & Coastal Arts Festival will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, June 1 and 2, at 110 Shipcarpenter St., Lewes. The event will go on rain or shine.
More than 70 artists from all over the United States will showcase their sea glass and coastal-themed artworks including jewelry, home decor, wood and metal sculpture, ceramics, photography and painting.
Shard identification experts from the Delmarva Antique Bottle Club will be on site both days to help attendees discover the origin and history of their sea glass pieces. Club members also will be displaying and selling collections of antique bottles and glassware. Festival-goers will have the opportunity to walk through a collection of more than 5,000 pieces of sea glass and learn from the educational displays and exhibits.
Hourly glass-blowing demonstrations will spotlight Rehoboth Beach glassblower Luckie, and there will be live music, family activities and food options each day.
Throughout the weekend, there will be four educational presentations from local and regional experts.
