Sen. Dave Wilson to run for re-election
Sen. David L. Wilson filed for re-election June 21. In a press release, Wilson said he is seeking re-election to help the constituents of the 18th Senatorial District resolve issues and problems affecting their personal lives and those of their families. He also promises to continue to bring common-sense government to Legislative Hall in Dover.
Wilson began his political career as the register in chancery in 1992. He was elected as the register of wills for Sussex County in 2006 and was elected as the state representative for the 35th District in 2008. He was elected to the Delaware Senate in 2018.
Wilson is a strong advocate of Second Amendment rights. He believes farmland preservation and open space are critical to the well-being of the State of Delaware. He supports providing quality education for Delaware’s young people. He also believes that for Delaware’s economy to prosper, the Legislature must be fiscally responsible.
Wilson and his wife have owned Wilson’s Auction Sales Inc. for more than 50 years. He is also a practicing farmer, growing more than 120 acres of hay, and he raises registered Haflinger horses and Angus beef cattle.
Wilson is involved in many community activities. He can be counted on to give of his time and talent to conduct auctions for charity throughout Delaware. He volunteers to pack food boxes for delivery to needy families at Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter through the Mountaire Cares project and delivers meals at Christmas for the CHEER program. He is a board member of the Harrington Raceway, the Delaware State Fair and the Delaware Prostate Cancer Coalition, and is a founding member of the Delaware Gospel Music Association. During the Delaware State Fair, he serves as superintendent of the Horse and Pony Department. He provides horse and carriages to the Delaware Burn Camp. He is also a strong supporter of and volunteers with many fire companies within the 18th District.
