Vacationers in the know schedule their visits after Labor Day. The Jazz, Sea Witch and Film Festivals. The Sidewalk Sale. Buddy Walk, the Polar Bear Plunge and the Christmas parade/Tree Lighting. These events and others are just a few things that happen when most of our seasonal visitors aren’t looking. And those of you who visit Rehoboth Beach during this relaxed time get another perk: good deals at local eateries! Different restaurants begin their off-season specials at different times, so I will iterate (and will reiterate below as a reminder) that you must call first to make sure the specials are in effect.
First and foremost are the ever-popular burger nights. Mondays at The Pond, Woody’s, Pickled Pig Pub and Summer House (get the salmon burger there!); Wednesdays at Kindle and Irish Eyes in Lewes.
Sushi lovers! Mark your calendars for Mondays at Cultured Pearl and Bento Box mania on Wednesdays at Saketumi. There are substantial savings on semi-transparent goodies wrapped in seaweed and rice. On Wednesdays at Arena’s downtown, sandwiches are half-price.
Each of the 11 SoDel Concepts restaurants from Fenwick to Lewes has a major special on weeknights and Sundays. And they are kind enough to mix ‘em up so each special occurs on a different day at each restaurant. Except for the traditional Sunday Supper at each SoDel Concepts eatery, with a chef’s-choice repast at around $19 give or take. Nice touch!
A Rehoboth Foodie pick hit in Bethany Beach is the Tuesday night Fried Chicken Extravaganza at Cottage Café. I’m a fried chicken maniac and this one is worth the 15 minute drive. Another great fried chicken experience can be had at Fork & Flask on Sundays. They pair it with champagne. Life is good!
More off-season treats include the Sunday Indian buffet (includes a mimosa!) at Indigo Indian Restaurant in Rehoboth and the Friday night fish specials at Chesapeake & Maine. Bethany Blues of Lewes’ massive Sunday brunch buffet is one of the best deals here in the Cape Region. And don’t miss Touch of Italy’s half-price chicken parm nights at the Rehoboth and Lewes installations. And they’re on different nights so you can save twice! Thank you, Touch of Italy. Next door to the Rehoboth TOI is Fork & Flask. You never know what can happen on a Tuesday night … drop in and find out.
There are good deals all over the area, and many of these repeat every year. But always verify by giving your favorite place a call. After all, this is slower/lower, and y’just never know….
