The Southern Delaware Chorale continued its 2023 season with A Spring Bouquet April 30 at Epworth United Methodist Church near Rehoboth Beach.
Dr. Colin Armstrong led the chorale as the artistic director. Sara Rose was the piano accompanist.
“I was delighted with the performance of the choir,” Armstrong said. “The Schubert mass in G major is a renowned work of the composer. The choir was able to express the solemnity and reverence of the work. The soloists all sang beautifully and expressively. This was a wonderful collaboration with Doug Yetter on the organ. I’m pleased and impressed with the growth of the choir on some of the other pieces in the concert. ‘Fresh and Fearless’ is in a challenging meter, 10/8 time. ‘April in Paris’ is constructed with complex jazz chords. Finally, their a cappella work in both ‘Flower of Beauty’ and ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ demonstrated their commitment to the choral art.”
