Spaces available for new members at Lewes Community Garden
Anyone living in the greater Lewes area who loves to grow their own vegetables but doesn’t have room may be able to find a solution at the Lewes Community Garden. The organization recently built eight new raised garden beds and has spaces available for new members to join for the 2023 growing season.
The LCG is a group of passionate organic gardeners who manage the community garden, located in Great Marsh Park near the Lewes Unleashed Dog Park and the University of Delaware campus. The garden is completely volunteer-run and donates a substantial portion of its produce to the Teach a Person to Fish Society and the Community Resource Center, which distribute the items to those in need.
Lewes Community Garden participants pay $75 per year for rental of a 4-by-8-foot bed, and scholarships are are available for those who can’t afford the rental fee. Gardeners must be residents of the greater Lewes area. All participants must follow organic gardening practices, and fellow gardeners will be available to provide support and resources. Gardeners can donate their extra produce to those in need. Monthly garden meetings and workdays provide opportunities for fellowship, learning best practices, exchanging seeds and ideas, etc.
