The Saint Cecilia Music Guild of Saint Peter’s Church in Lewes will present “Revelries and Revolutionaries,” at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m., Friday, Feb. 14, at the church on Second Street in downtown Lewes. These concerts will be performed by Elevation, the flagship, all-professional performing ensemble of Elevate Vocal Arts, based in Wilmington.
Elevation, under Artistic Director Arreon Harley-Emerson, is Delaware’s only professional vocal ensemble. Its performances fuse traditional, classical choral music with jazz, hip-hop, R&B, storytelling and spoken word.
This concert will celebrate Black History Month through the music of pioneering Black composers, featuring works by Kay, Franklin, Dilworth, Robles, Moore and Bonds. This concert honors the Black experience and the artists who have transformed American music with their bold, joyful and revolutionary compositions.
While these performances are ticketed events due to high demand, both concerts are offered at no cost, thanks to the generous support of the St. Cecilia Music Guild. Organizers highly recommend that patrons reserve seats in advance at StCeciliaGuild.org. Doors open 30 minutes prior to the concert start time at St. Peter’s.
The 7:30 concert will be webcast live on Saint Peter’s YouTube page. It will not be recorded. To view remotely, go to StPetersLewes.org and click on “media” under Services & Worship.
