The Delaware State Emergency Medical Services Association held its annual banquet Sept. 11 at Dover Downs Ballroom. Awards were presented that included the Robert W. Jones Educator Award, the Stephanie Callaway Excellence in Paramedicine Award, and the Michelle Newton Smith Heroic EMS Award. Along with the awards, new officers for the state EMS were also inducted.

Millsboro Fire Department’s Chris Blackburn was appointed president of the Delaware State Emergency Medical Services Association. Blackburn has also assisted the Rehoboth Beach and Gumboro fire companies. Pinning Blackburn is Michael Scheerer, Rehoboth Beach Fire Department EMS supervisor.
