Capitalizing on the fruit of the season, the Lewes Fire Department and its auxiliary hosted the second annual Strawberry Festival May 11 at Station 2 in Nassau.
By the start of the event at 10 a.m., cars had already filled every nearby parking lot in the area. The festival has grown in size and featured more than 60 local vendors.
Auxiliary members worked nonstop to keep up with demand for strawberries, strawberry shortcake and other berry treats. Strawberry wine was also offered along with a petting zoo from The Little Farm.
Vendors not only filled Station 2 inside but also took just about every available space in the parking lot.
Lewes Fire Department’s Station 2 bays are filled to overflowing with vendors, with many outside in the parking lot as well.
If it’s vendors you want, you couldn’t do much better than the Lewes Fire Department Strawberry Festival. Dozens of vendors offered everything from crafts, cookies and cupcakes to Sussex County and Delaware apparel, jewelry, artwork, photography and more.
