Sussex Academy students, staff celebrate Read Across America

Students and staff of Sussex Academy celebrated Read Across America in a very special way March 3 to 7.

Each year, elementary Spanish paraprofessional Jenny Martinez-Ulloa invites Spanish-speaking parents, high school students and teachers to read to kindergarten and first-grade classes.

This year, Head of School Kyle Bentley, student Jacob Rojas, parent Jocelyn Ayon, high school Spanish teacher Cameron Smith, librarian Jen Leonard, and members of the World Language Honor Society and Interact Clubs either visited the elementary campus to read in person or recorded videos of themselves reading books that were played to students in class.

Throughout the week, students enjoyed listening to a number of stories in Spanish from their guest readers.
