Sussex Consortium partners with local businesses
Sussex Consortium students have had a busy winter partnering with local businesses and earning special outings to practice skills they’ve learned in the classroom.
For the last 25 years, the Sussex Consortium program has partnered with the Sussex Family YMCA to teach students how to swim and to learn about water safety. Students of all ages and all swim levels have been involved in this program, from swimmers just getting used to being in and around a pool to those who are able to swim on their own.
Sussex Consortium students at Rehoboth Elementary School earned a special breakfast at Chick-fil-A Feb. 21. They rode a bus from school to Chick-fil-A where they practiced skills such as walking through a busy parking lot, waiting in line, ordering from a menu, giving their order to the cashier, waiting for their food to be delivered, and trying new foods. The students enjoyed sitting all together family style and eating a hot breakfast with their friends.
