Sussex Tech teacher earns national recognition

Sussex Technical High School announced Charles “Charlie” Hoard, who teaches HVACR, was recently honored as one of the Top 25 Most Influential Instructor/Trainers of 2024.

Hoard was selected from among nearly 1,000 nominees through a collaboration between HVAC Excellence and TruTEch Tools. He and the other winners will be recognized during the 2024 National HVACR Education Conference.

Hoard has been an HVACR teacher since 1983. His career started with the State of Delaware HVAC Apprenticeship. He then taught at Paul M. Hodgson Vo-Tech and Howard High School of Technology. He started with Sussex Technical High School in 2018. When needed, he also teaches classes at Delaware Tech and Polytech Adult Ed.

“A teacher always hopes the current generation of students will build on the past generation, and improve, advance and enrich future generations,” said Hoard.

Sussex Tech is a public high school that prepares Sussex County students in grades 9-12 for their future success in workforce environments, higher education and the military.
