The visiting Tatnall girls’ lacrosse team ran the clock on Sussex Academy May 3, winning 22-6 behind an insane game from Lydia Colasante, who had 11 points with six goals and five assists.
Tatnall led 12-5 at the half, then blew it open by outscoring the Seahawks 10-1 in the second half.
The Hornets are now 10-1, with their lone loss coming to Episcopal Academy (Pa.) March 30 in Philadelphia.
Tatnall goals were scored by Kali Clayton with seven, Colasante with six, Charlotte Wilkinson with five, Jordan Bartels with two, and Ivy Qualls and Avery Brumfield each with one.
Tatnall assists were Colasante with five, Qualls with two, and Tessa Colasante and Paige Hiller each with one.
Sussex Academy goals were scored by Sanne Elling and Callie Short with two each, and Shelby Manlove and Lilian Manlove with one apiece.
Manlove and Elling each had an assist.
The Hornets held a 39-20 shot advantage over the Seahawks.
Devon Chipman had nine saves for Tatnall, while Morgan Leeper had 11 saves for the Seahawks.
Sussex Academy dropped to 8-4.
Notes: Elling scored her 100th goal in the first half and presented her parents with the ball at halftime. The two teams split last season, with Sussex Academy winning at Tatnall 20-16, then Tatnall winning in the semifinals of the state tournament 17-8. Tatnall has lost to Cape in the last two state finals.
