Thomas J. O'Connor, retired mechanic

Thomas "Tom" J. O'Connor, 64, of Greenwood, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016, at his home. He was born in Altoona, Pa., Sept. 29, 1951, son of the late Donald and Marie A. (Evans) O'Connor.

Mr. O'Connor enjoyed a lengthy career as a pipe fitter in the Washington, D.C. Navy Yard before relocating to Sussex County. Here he worked for the Delaware Health and Social Services’ Stockley Center in Georgetown as a mechanic, retiring after 23 dedicated years.

As an avid antique collector, he loved going to various auctions and had a strong interest in classic cars and trucks. He enjoyed spending hours woodworking or working on different home improvement projects. Mr. O'Connor was known by many to have a kind and generous heart. He had a wonderful sense of humor and was a great friend who will be dearly missed.

Mr. O'Connor is survived by his three brothers, Ronald J. O'Connor, Robert M. O'Connor and James P. O'Connor; two sisters, Ann Marie O'Connor and Josie Tweed; three children; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Memorial Services will be held Friday, Jan. 22, at 1 p.m., at Stockley Center, Stockley All Faith Chapel (Lloyds Lane) 26351 Patriots Way, Georgetown. Interment will be private.

Arrangements by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Dodd-Carey Chapel, Georgetown.
