Tidewater Plungers take early dip for Special Olympics
February 7, 2024
Members of the Tidewater Landing development, called the Tidewater Plungers, took an early plunge on the beach at Herring Point in Cape Henlopen State Park Feb. 3. Nine people from the development raised more than $11,300 for Special Olympics Delaware.
It is the fourth year the group has plunged as a community, including the sixth year for group leader Rob Sweeney.
“We turn it into a community event each year,” said Sweeney. “This year, we had nearly 60 friends and neighbors come to support us and cheer us on.”
Maureen Delaney was the top fundraiser, raising more than $5,000.
After the plunge, the group went to Grain on the Rocks to celebrate their accomplishment.
