Timothy E. Palmer, proud veteran
Timothy E. Palmer, 68, of Seaford, better known as Gene or Genie, departed this life peacefully Tuesday, Dec. 27, 2022. He was born April 5, 1954, in Wilmington.
Gene was united in holy matrimony to Vanessa (Brown) Palmer from 1974-2009, and from that union three children were born, Carlos (Mont), Sonice (Pinky) and Tori.
Gene received his early studies from Seaford School District, ultimately finishing at Wor-Wic Technical Community College, where he received his diploma. Gene was a proud veteran of the Army and the Army National Guard, and received an honorable discharge from each in 1981 for his service. He spent most of his life working at various aerotech and recreational boating companies painting airplanes and boats, with his final retirement years working as a security guard.
He loved listening to jazz music and watching boxing. He also had a passion for collecting African art and baseball cards. Let’s not forget his favorite car, a black and grey Monte Carlo. He loved it so much that he named his firstborn Carlos Montinez.
Gene had a sense of humor. His jokes may have been corny but the delivery was so animated that it would make you laugh hard. He just knew he told a good one. He also loved to dance around, and now those dance moves of his, let’s just say bless his heart, needed a lot of work.
Gene was preceded in death by his father, Hilton Palmer; mother, Hattie Mae Palmer (Shields) of Seaford; and brother, Donald Palmer of Wilmington.
Gene leaves to mourn his loss, his three children, Carlos Palmer of Seaford, Sonice Lee (Chris) of Georgetown, and Tori Palmer (Funta) of Atlanta, Ga.; one sister, Hilda Ross of Seaford; five nieces, Janine Gowers (Harry) of Middletown, N.Y., Shirley Palmer of Smyrna, Charlotte Ross of Wilmington, and Charlene Ross and Desiree Hall (Enos) of Selbyville; three nephews, D. Adrian Palmer (Lorraine) of Woodlawn, Md., Charles Ross (Joyce) of Bear, and Jernel Ross of Smyrna; four grandchildren, Davahn Lee of Columbia, Md., Aniyah Lee of Georgetown, and Journee and Demi Palmer of Atlanta; his best friend for more than 20 years, Thomas Deshields Sr. of Seaford; and a host of cousins, great-nieces and -nephews.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Jan. 7, at Crossroad Community Church, 20684 State Forest Road, Georgetown.
