Tom Kovach announces candidacy for U.S. House
New Castle County Council President Tom Kovach recently visited Sussex County to officially announce his candidacy for Delaware's sole seat in the House of Representatives. Old Bay Restaurant at Midway was the venue.
An environmental attorney and chemical engineer, Kovach, a North Wilmington resident, was elected president of New Castle County in 2011. He the first Republican to hold the office since 1988.
"We only have one representative and I think that representatives needs to be a strong advocate for the state," Kovach said. "People say one person can't make a difference, but one person with leadership skills can make a difference."
Kovach will face Rose Izzo at the state primary in September; the winner will go on to face Democratic incumbent John Carney in November.
The candidate's next scheduled "meet and greet" mixer in Sussex County is set for Saturday, August 11 in Rehoboth Beach. For more information, visit www.kovachforcongress.org.
