Tree-lighting ceremony heralds holiday shopping season

Tanger Outlets held a holiday tree-lighting ceremony Nov. 9 at its Seaside center outside Rehoboth Beach.
This free event was full of cheerful experiences, including a holiday craft station, face painting, musical entertainment and the much-anticipated arrival of Santa and Mrs. Claus.
“This long-standing tradition really is an opportunity to kick off the holiday season for the community. It’s one of my favorite events. There’s nothing like seeing a child’s eyes light up when they see Santa or the tree lighting,” said Michele Doucette, marketing director for Tanger Outlets Rehoboth. “We had a very good turnout; I’d estimate around 1,000 people came out ready to experience holiday magic a little earlier this season.”
Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive in style atop an antique Ward LaFrance fire truck.
